egodeath is alive
Sacramento’s music scene wasn’t ready for the wrath that is EGODEATH’s psychedelic beats this previous Friday at Café Colonial. The independent DJ was born and raised in Sac-Town and is adamant about “making Sacramento a hotspot for new and underground music.”
EGODEATH’S headlining set last Friday made for a comparably uneventful rest of the weekend. The diverse blend of mariachi mixes --- to jazz funk had everyone leaving the venue still hopping and jiving. He started with some remixed Key & Cleary as he eased the crowd into what was coming. Next came the lofty, high-energy chaos that was impossible not to move to.
The artist is the creator and manager of the music label Replicant here in Sacramento. It’s obvious in conversing with the young artist that he prioritizes promoting his label, which comprises close music friends of his. After expressing his compassion for the Sacramento music scene, I made sure to ask the artist what his specific goal for his music is, and he chuckled at the question. After a moment of pause, he answered with a delightful “well, duh, to make fuckers dance.”
